ABOUT SREENIKETAN NGO CHATHANNOOR

Sreeniketan Centre for Social Development is a Charitable Organization (NGO) which got its Regn on 31-03-1989 as per Travancore-Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Regn. Act, 1955, with the Office of the Dist.Registrar, Kollam bearing Regn.No. Q.190/89. Its H.Qr. is located at Chathannoor in Kollam Dist. It may have activities extended in the whole of Indian Union. It organized developmental programmes and projects covering all sectors of the economy leading to complete socio-economic and cultural transformation of the country. For the outset, Sreeniketan conducted Neethimelas (Legal Literary Classes), Awareness Generation Programmes, Community Development Programmes so and so forth.

It conducted Social Welfare Projects like Women Helpline, Working Womens Hostel, Rajiv Gandhi Crèche Scheme, AGPs etc. with the help of Ministry of Women and Child Development, govt. of India. Now Sreeniketan is managing Family Counselling Centre, Service Providing Centre under P.W.D.V. Act, 2005 with grant-in-aid from Central Social Welfare Board/State Social Welfare Board. Besides our Sreeniketan NGO is running Family Counselling Centre at Chathannoor from 1993-94 onwards to till date with grant-in-aid from Central Social welfare Board. Also our NGO is running Service Providing Centre under PWDV Act, 2005 since 2007-08, for which grant-in-aid provided by Kerala State Govt. /KSSWB.

A 15 Bedded IRCA / De-Addiction Treatment and Re-habilitation Centre was also functioning from April 1993 at our NGO, Chathannoor without grant-in-aid. The intention was to rescue the drug addicts / alcoholics, Social delinquents and other socially harmful and deprived individuals from such pathetic and deplorable conditions and help them to lead a peaceful family life and to participate in the Nation building programmes. But Central Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India began to release grant-in-aid to this 15 Bedded IRCA from September 1999 onwards only. We are regularly receiving grant-in-aid to this De-Addiction Treatment Project, since then to till date.
